Marcelle Nuke is a writer and director based in Edinburgh and Leeds.
Marcelle’s writing journey began with poetry and evolved into screenwriting and directing. Published in Hustling Verse: An Anthology of Sex Workers Poetry (Arsenal Pulp Press, 2019), she went on to be one of 9 Scottish filmmakers awarded up to £15, 000 in funding by Short Circuit, Screen Scotland and BFI Network. Through this programme she wrote and directed Milkgum, her debut short (details below).
In 2024 Marcelle was one of 20 writers selected to take part in Channel 4’s New Writers Scheme, through which she developed her TV drama DAMSELS, a tale of motherhood and madness deeply rooted in both gothic and authentic sensibilities. Other works in development include BBL body horror short GRAFT (finalist of WomenX 2024 Script Competition). She has always alchemised her life into her work, but always seeks to transcend what people expect from ‘lived experience’ works.
